Tower Service

For over 100 years, it has been tradition to preach from the top of St Helen's Church tower on the first Sunday in July.
Although this year the service was held a week later than usual, that didn't stop members of the local community from turning out to hear the message and join in the worship!
The morning rain had cleared by the afternoon service and we climbed the tower in bright sunshine.
Our guest preacher, Anna Alls from Eastwood, Underwood and Brinsley, spoke about the woman at the well whilst battling with the wind and managing to hold onto her papers, and our new events shelter had its first outing as a cover for the worship team.
We ended the service with a fantastically catered tea.  Thanks to all who volunteered.
